About 7 miles north of McCook on East 11th Street, there is a dirt road that leads to what is called Devil's Canyon. Stories say that over 100 years ago, a man killed his wife and kids here, then killed himself. He is nicknamed The Duke, and his ghost appears as a shadowy figure who likes to play tricks on those who pass by, and even causes mechanical objects to malfunction.
