Witch's Grave
Aurora, NE 68818
The witch's grave is an ancient, isolated grave in Aurora City Cemetery that has a mossy tombstone and a protruding marker, said to be a warning to deter others from witchcraft. Stories say the "witch" was eccentric, which was enough to make people of the town think she was a witch and blame her for bad things that happened. Eventually, they hanged her for her crime of oddness. Other reports say the woman who was buried here was completely normal, and not at all a witch, and simply died of an illness. Her name was Susan Gavan and she was buried with her seven month old daughter Mary.

Susan passed away after a short illness, sadly it took her baby as well. She was not hung or burned at the stake.
